Osigwe declares for Nnewi North Chairmanship race on APGA’ s platform

The Former spokesperson of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Company, Col. Osigwe has on Saturday, January 24, 2026 formally declared his interest in contesting the Nnewi North Chairmanship election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The event, at the Nnewi Hotel was fully graced by Nnewi Stakeholders, youths, and APGA faithfuls from the state and Nnewi North.

Osigwe, who made his intention known said he joined the race to unite Nnewi and to re-write wrongs in his community.

He revealed that he decided to join his community, Nnewichi to fight and ensure that the 1997 Nnewi Rotational Agreement and Anambra State Local Government Administrative Law were maintained for fairness and peaceful coexistence in the community.

He noted that Mr. Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has been working relentlessly to build a prosperous, livable and smart state.

At local level, Osigwe said Nnewi needs a visionary and result-oriented leader that understands the vision of Mr Governor and has the competence to implement it.

“I stepped forward to contest after wide consultations within my party, APGA and extensive engagements with stakeholders across my community.

“I became convinced that this moment demands capable leadership built on competence, integrity and service” he stated.

He emphasized that his aspiration is not driven by personal ambition rather by preparedness and conviction, adding with his experience, vision and commitment, he is ready to serve, work and deliver his people.

“We need a leader who understands that public office is a platform for service, not a reward for loyalty.Nnewi needs leadership renewal not in words, but in action” Osigwe declared.

Col. Osigwe while presenting his manifesto titled “Nnewi Rising” said
If given the opportunity to become Nnewi North Mayor, he would restore his community’s lost glory.

“I am not desperate to hold office. I am deeply committed to delivering real, visible and lasting progress, progress that will be seen in sustainable infrastructure, improve security of lives and property, empower youth and children through skills and opportunity, restore peace, unity and social harmony across all communities” he further declared.

He called on his party, APGA to support his aspiration and grant him the mandate to serve as its candidate, assuring to translate Soludo’s vision into practical governance, restore confidence in leadership, unite their people and return Nnewi to its rightful place of greatness.

While speaking on the candidacy of Col. Osigwe, the PG Ndimgbu Community, Barr. C. U Okeke, described him as a straightforward, honest and transparent man and encouraged his people to support him because he has their interest at heart.

Mr. Ebuka Obiamalu, PG Nkpoka Development Union, Nnewichi said the Aspirant is someone to be trusted and a philanthropist that has financially empowered their youth, calling him a tested and trusted leader.

Others who spoke during the declaration were: Okonkwo Anthony Onyeka, Hon.Chimezie Obiasogu, Maria Mbadugha, Obiora Arinzechukwu all attested to Osigwe’s unwavering committment to serve.

In a closing remarks, the Chairman of the party in Anambra State, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, who was represented by the state treasurer of the party, Hon. Mrs Vero Nweke congratulated Osigwe for taken a bold step to serve his people and advised him to focus more on what will make Nnewi great and prosperous, if elected.
