Senator Ned Nwoko has hit back at his estranged wife, Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, over her recent denial of drug use allegations, insisting that a single negative test does not prove consistent sobriety or negate prior findings.

In a statement posted on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) and signed by Nwoko’s communication team, the senator clarified that temporary abstinence from substance use is not the same as genuine recovery.

The statement emphasised that genuine rehabilitation requires sustained professional support, honesty, and a long-term commitment, not just a single test result or a social media post.

Nwoko’s team questioned the conditions under which Daniels’ recent test was conducted, arguing that the test could not be seen as definitive proof of recovery.

They pointed out that earlier reports of drug and alcohol use were compiled by independent and reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa, and these findings will be presented and defended in court, with the laboratories set to testify to their accuracy.

The statement from Nwoko’s team further stated that presenting a later negative result as evidence that no prior use occurred is misleading.

At best, they said, it reflects temporary abstinence rather than a true, long-term recovery, and it certainly does not negate earlier medical reports or the need for intervention.

The statement also addressed the issue of MDMA (commonly known as Molly), noting that such substances should not be downplayed by casual references or renaming.

The senator’s team stressed that the underlying issues that led to the public dispute had not been addressed through a temporary change in behaviour.

Nwoko’s team also referenced a previous court ruling in his favour, which dismissed all unsubstantiated human rights claims filed by Daniels last year.

The senator’s communication team reiterated that he had deliberately kept the matter private, giving Daniels the opportunity to seek help quietly while maintaining a meaningful relationship with their children.

They further clarified that a single test, taken at a time of one’s choosing, cannot outweigh professionally documented assessments conducted independently, and any drug test, including Daniels’, would face court scrutiny if necessary.

The statement emphasised that the matter requires reality supported by relevant, credible, and admissible evidence, rather than social media drama.
