Nana Kazaure, Head of Media and Strategic Communications of the Obidient Movement, has faulted some of the names on President Bola Tinubu’s proposed ambassadorial list.
Kazaure said some of the names should be in jail and not on the ambassadorial list in Nigeria.
In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, on Friday night, the Obidient Movement chieftain lamented that some of the nominees have corruption cases hanging over their shoulders, while others have called Tinubu unprintable names in the past.
She said: “Plainly speaking, a lot of them have raised lots of concerns, many of the people who are on that list have institutions and not strong men. Those people should be in jail.
“For example, there is somebody who has an EFCC case hanging over his head and it has not been concluded and the next thing he’s being rewarded with the office of an Ambassador.
“That’s an indictment on the Nigerian institution, these kinds of people shouldn’t even be on the list. Are we rewarding people who have come out publicly who said the person at the helm of affairs is a known drug dealer is now rewarded with the office of an ambassador?
“We have seen other people, who have shown that they have the right temperament and outlook. What now happens to people who are career diplomats who have just been sidelined when they are at the peak of their careers?
“And that’s why people are generally upset about the list which has come out. I’m really hoping that aside from the negative feedback that Nigeria has been getting internationally, locally.
“I’m hoping that the Senate will look into these issues because there are two are bearing the same names, Nigerians need answers to those kinds of questions.”
