President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing his death as a profound national loss.
The highly respected Bauchi-based Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood died on Thursday at the age of 101.
In a condolence message, President Tinubu hailed Sheikh Bauchi as a moral compass whose life was devoted to teaching, preaching, and guiding the Muslim community. He noted that the cleric’s death is a monumental loss not only to his family and vast followers but to the entire nation.
The President also reflected on the spiritual support and blessings he received from the late Sheikh during the 2023 election period.
“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a teacher, a father, and a voice of moderation and reason. As a preacher and a distinguished Quranic exegete, he stood for peace and piety. His death has created a huge void,” Tinubu said.
He extended his condolences to the Sheikh’s followers across Nigeria and beyond, urging them to honour his memory by upholding his teachings on peaceful coexistence, devotion to God, and kindness to humanity
