The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has accused presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, of attempting to divert attention away from the failures of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The POMR, in a statement on Wednesday signed by its spokesperson, Ibrahim Umar, cautioned Onanuga against launching verbal attacks against former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Bellnews reports the statement comes as a direct response to an earlier statement by Onanuga, who berated Peter Obi, accusing him of endorsing a “foreign invasion” of Nigeria following his reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to deploy American forces against terrorists in the country.
In a post on 𝕏, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, condemned Obi’s comments, saying his position was unbecoming of a former presidential candidate.
“We shall never forget and forgive Peter Obi for supporting a foreign invasion of Nigeria,” Onanuga wrote.
However, Umar said Onanuga should focus on how the current administration can address the challenges of insecurity and economic hardship facing Nigerians.
He argued that the positions of the United States and the international community have nothing to do with Obi’s statement.
