As part of its mandate to promote inclusive civic engagement and strengthen community-stakeholder synergy, the Special Duties Committee of the Nnewi People’s Forum (NPF) has concluded a historic round of courtesy visits to the traditional leadership of the four quarters of Nnewi: Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi.

The delegation, led by the Committee Chairman, Professor Edwin Maduka Chukwuma, paid homage to Igwe Dr. K.O.N. Orizu III (CON), the revered traditional ruler of Nnewi, as well as to the respected Obis of the quarters: Obi Afam Obi (Uruagu), Obi Bennett Okafor (Umudim), and Obi George Onyekaba (Nnewichi).

These visits, conducted in the spirit of unity and mutual respect, reaffirm the Forum’s recognition of the foundational role of traditional institutions in the development and stability of our beloved town. As part of the engagements, the Committee also paid a courtesy call to Honourable Augustine Onyekachukwu Ike, member representing Nnewi North Constituency. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on inclusive development, the importance of responsive representation, and how collaborative frameworks can help address the pressing needs of our people. They also served as an avenue to share NPF’s patriotic vision of a more coordinated, people-driven approach to bridging development gaps in Nnewi.

The core thrust of the Nnewi People’s Forum is to identify and articulate pressing developmental needs across the community, and to channel them for intervention; whether through Federal, State, or Local Government agencies, or in partnership with non-governmental organizations and private stakeholders.

The Committee is deeply grateful for the warm reception, counsel, and blessings received during these engagements. The resounding goodwill of our royal fathers serves as encouragement to continue building an atmosphere of trust, collaboration, and forward-thinking dialogue across all sectors of Nnewi society.

At this crucial point in our collective journey, we call on all stakeholders, traditional leaders, political representatives, professionals, youths, and the broader Nnewi public—to rally around a shared vision of progress. The task of rebuilding and repositioning Nnewi requires all hands on deck, united by purpose and a deep love for our land.

Nnewi is rising again, through shared responsibility, community pride, and the enduring power of her people.

Signed:
Caleb Okeke-Enyobi
