Police Disrupts Cult Initiation In Nawfia, Arrest Six, Recover Arms And SUV.

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have successfully disrupted a cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, arresting six suspects and recovering arms, ammunition, and various incriminating items.

The operation, carried out on Saturday, June 15, 2025, at about 9:30am, was based on intelligence-led surveillance, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

Among the recovered items were one Jojef pump action gun, two live cartridges, a golden-coloured Lexus SUV with registration number ATN 202 AE, two cutlasses, two scissors, a cap bearing the insignia of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, some charms, hard substances suspected to be illicit drugs, and other incriminating materials.

The suspects, all males aged between 20 and 30, were identified as Nwadike Chibuike, Anierobi Precious, Raphael Ebube, Ezechi Benjamin, Okafor Chidera, and Chiema Okoye.

They are currently in police custody undergoing interrogation to uncover details of their activities, after which the case will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling cultism, describing it as a catalyst for other violent crimes, and assured the public of continued efforts to ensure safety and security across Anambra State.
