A lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi has said it is important for the 2027 election to be as free, fair and credible as possible.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the human rights activist said he would be supporting and voting for Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party.

Farotimi said his votes can only go to another presidential candidate who comes as a better option than the former Anambra State governor.

‘If elections are held today, where our votes will count, I will vote for Peter Gregory Obi unless somebody comes into the race that I think can do better.”

“If it’s the same lineup as the last time, it is definitely Peter Obi that I would be voting for,” Farotimi said.

He, however, said he hopes that Obi becomes a bit bolder with his policy platforms and strategies towards securing a victory in the next general election.

“I will hope that he is a little bolder with his policy platforms but frankly speaking, in terms of capacity, in terms of integrity, there is nobody else I will be supporting.

“Something drastic has to happen for me to decide that I would not be supporting Peter Obi,” he said.

Speaking further, the activist said he might also change his mind about Obi if he decides to join forces with individuals which he disapproves.

Farotimi said, “It might be that he teamed up with some of my objectionable persons that I cannot be able to stomach and that is a real possibility.

“Outside of that there’s nobody else, am I going to Bulaba or Atiku?” he queried.
