The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery.
DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, issued a statement in Ilorin, the state capital, confirming the arrests.
She revealed that a cut-to-size single-barrel gun purportedly used in the alleged robbery and an android phone were seized from the suspects.
The arrested individuals were identified as John Ndubusi Nbakogu, Toheeb Suleiman, and Bolakale Quadir, also known as Adaka.
According to Ejire, the incident occurred on March 2 around 6:30 a.m. in the Oko-Erin area of Ilorin, following a distress call reporting an armed robbery. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons, was reportedly accosted by three armed men while tending to his traps. The assailants robbed him of his Infinix Note 11 handset, valued at N150,000.
The prompt response of the police led to the arrest of the first suspect shortly after the incident. Subsequent investigation efforts led to the apprehension of the other two suspects. Additionally, a cut-to-size single-barrel gun, believed to have been used in the robbery, was recovered from one of the suspects.
Ejire emphasized that thorough investigation confirmed the involvement of the suspects in the reported crime. The arrested individuals will be brought before the court for prosecution.
She urged the public to continue collaborating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and pertinent information to aid in crime prevention and detection.
