Tragedy struck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as one person lost their life, and five others sustained injuries in a solitary accident. The incident took place on Tuesday, as confirmed by Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, during a conversation with PUNCH Online.
The accident, which occurred around the Fidiwo axis of the expressway, involved a total of 23 individuals, all of whom were male. Okpe stated that the crash was caused by a lone truck, resulting in one fatality and five injuries.
Attributing the cause of the accident to a burst tire and excessive speed, Okpe urged motorists to exercise caution while driving on the expressway to avert unnecessary loss of lives.
“The cause of the crash was a tire burst and speeding. Motorists are advised to always drive with caution on the expressway to prevent needless loss of lives,” Okpe emphasized.
