On Wednesday, esteemed dignitaries and loved ones assembled at the Eko Hotel in Lagos to honor the late banker and philanthropist, Herbert Wigwe, in a night of heartfelt tribute.
The atmosphere was laden with sorrow as attendees joined together to bid farewell to a visionary leader whose legacy has left an enduring impact on the corporate sphere.
Notable figures in attendance included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun. Also present were business moguls such as Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Coronation Group.
The gathering also saw the presence of distinguished individuals including Henry Imasekha, Chairman/CEO of Berkeley Group Plc, and Segun Agbaje, Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc. Former Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, added his solemn presence to the proceedings, among others.
The poignant event served as a poignant reminder of Wigwe’s significant contributions and the void left by his untimely passing. Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife Doreen, son Chizzy, and former Managing Director of Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, USA.
