The Imo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the recent and devastating pipeline explosion that rocked Obitti community in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.
Tragically, the incident led to the loss of five lives.
According to The PUNCH, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has taken the initiative to launch an investigation into the explosion.
The primary objective of this inquiry is to address the situation promptly and prevent any further instances of economic sabotage within the state.
It is worth noting that vandals targeted a rubber estate in Obitti community, attempting to interfere with crude oil by digging through a pipeline in the area. The subsequent ignition of the pipeline during their attempt resulted in the unfortunate loss of lives.
