Anambra State has garnered acknowledgment from the Federal Government, as conferred by the National Council on Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy. The state has been recognized as a leader in digital infrastructure technology development during the 11th National Council on Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting held in Kano.
The accolades bestowed upon Anambra State encompassed multiple categories, including e-government implementation, digital technology human capital development, and digital technology development, as revealed in an official statement. These awards were presented during the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) peer review session at the NCCIDE meeting, chaired by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and hosted by Kano State Governor, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Anambra State’s outstanding achievement in ICT infrastructure development was highlighted, attributing it to the successful implementation of the Zero Right Of Way (RoW) policy and the establishment of an Internet Exchange Point. These initiatives underscore the state’s commitment to fostering a robust foundation for the prosperity of its citizens through technology.
The Managing Director of Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Agbata, received the awards on behalf of Governor Prof. Charles Soludo. Agbata expressed gratitude to the governor for creating an enabling environment and a visionary approach aligning with the ‘Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere’ mantra.
Anambra State has been actively promoting technological advancement, as evidenced by the implementation of zero charges for Right of Way to facilitate the rapid deployment of broadband infrastructure. This move, in line with Governor Soludo’s vision, has positioned the state as a pioneer in embracing technology for comprehensive development.
In addition, Anambra State has initiated corporate alliances and technological partnerships with prominent US companies to accelerate its digital transformation. Governor Soludo engaged in strategic discussions at the US Consulate General in Lagos, fostering ties with the US Consul-General, William Stevens, and leaders from 26 renowned US high-tech companies, further emphasizing the state’s commitment to advancing its digital landscape.
