Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, has officially expressed his interest in contesting the governorship election in the state in 2025. In a conversation with journalists at his Nnewi residence on Sunday, Ubah made a commitment to a single term in office to honor the gentleman’s agreement guiding the zoning and rotation of the governorship position, particularly for Anambra South Senatorial District.
While the current governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, hails from Anambra South and is in the second year of his first term, Ubah emphasized his commitment to one term in office. Additionally, he pledged to conduct local government elections within four months of assuming office if elected as governor in 2025.
Ubah argued that a focused governor could achieve significant developments within a four-year term, expressing his disappointment with the slow pace of progress in the state. He asserted that 80 percent of his innovative blueprints for the state’s development exceeded the capacity of his political opponents.
If elected, Ubah envisions Anambra State becoming a commercial and health hub in the South-East and Nigeria as a whole. He criticized the incumbent governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for what he perceived as the denigration of the traditional institution in the state, deeming it petty and unfortunate.
Highlighting his track record as a private individual and politician, Ubah emphasized his substantial contributions to the transformation of people’s lives in various sectors, including sports, education, commerce, employment, and overall youth and women empowerment.
