Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Friday, gave his approval for the appointment of Dr. Jimoh Lasisi Ayanda as the acting Provost of the Osun State College of Education, Ila Orangun. The immediate implementation of Ayanda’s appointment was announced in a statement signed by Olawale Rasheed, a spokesperson to the Osun State Governor.
According to Rasheed, Ayanda’s appointment follows the suspension of Prof. Jimoh Atanda Afolabi as Provost, based on allegations of financial impropriety, concealment of official information/records, and failure to update the Governing Council on important issues within the College.
The acting Provost, Dr. Jimoh Lasisi Ayanda, boasts a robust educational background, holding qualifications such as the National Certificate of Education (English/Islamic Studies, Ila-Orangun, 1990), Bachelor of Arts (Islamic Studies, University of Ilorin, 1996), Masters of Arts (University of Ilorin, 2004), and Ph.D. in Islamic Studies (University of Ilorin, 2016). Rasheed highlighted that Ayanda has accumulated 22 years of lecturing experience at the Osun State College of Education.
With 25 years of lecturing experience in the College of Education sector and the Federal College of Education (Special Oyo, Oyo State), Ayanda, specializing in Islamic History and Jurisprudence, brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, Rasheed mentioned.
The statement further outlined Ayanda’s service to the College in various capacities, including roles such as Assistant Secretary and Secretary of the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU OSSCE Ila-Orangun) from 2005 to 2010. Additionally, Ayanda served as Chairman of COEASU OSSCE Ila-Orangun from 2010 to 2014 and as Chairman of the Council of Academic Unions of Osun State Tertiary Institutions (CASUOSTI) from 2013 to 2016.
