Emeka Obegolu, the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has praised the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for maintaining a consistent power supply to consumers during the festive season. Obegolu, who also leads the private sector in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), conveyed his appreciation in a statement released on Saturday, noting that this initiative significantly benefited businesses and residents in the area.
During a visit to the operational area of the EEDC, the ACCI chief emphasized the pivotal role of uninterrupted power supply in enhancing the standard of living and supporting business activities. He urged the EEDC to persist in its efforts to ensure a reliable power supply in the South-East region.
Obegolu further encouraged state governments in the area to explore opportunities in the power sector and capitalize on the liberalization allowing sub-national entities to generate, transmit, and distribute power. He believes that such a step will attract investments, promote economic growth, and contribute to the overall development of the covered states.
Highlighting the positive impact of the EEDC’s contributions to the region’s development, the ACCI president commended the company and called for its sustained support in providing consistent power supply to businesses and residents in the South-East.
It is worth noting that residents experienced a significant improvement with at least 20 hours of power supply, alleviating the need to purchase fuel for generators, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
