The Oyo State Police Command has announced the dismissal of two Special Constabularies, Jimoh Lukman and Kareem Fatai, following their involvement in an alleged extortion case. The officers, caught in a viral video, were seen soliciting money from a Dutch tourist, Ms. Noraly Schoenmaker, riding a power bike from the Netherlands to Abuja.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, disclosed the dismissal during a press briefing at the state Police Command in Eleyele, Ibadan. The action was taken based on the recommendation of an orderly room investigation, and the officers were subsequently stripped of their Nigerian Police uniform to confirm their exit from the constabulary service.

Hamzat emphasized that the duo deliberately ignored orders and directives against professional misconduct, extortion, incivilities, and corruption. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State Police Command to combat corruption and professional misconduct, aiming to maintain a high standard of integrity within the force.

In conclusion, the Commissioner stated that the dismissal of Kareem Fatai and Jimoh Lukman serves as a deterrent to other officers with similar inclinations. He underscored the commitment to heightened supervision and monitoring of field officers during the Yuletide season and beyond to uphold professionalism in policing.
