The reason for the collapse of President Bola Tinubu’s Ministerial nominee, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has been revealed.
Also, Lawal, who collapsed during his Senate screening on Wednesday, has been successfully revived. The nominee fell to the floor after speaking for about 15 minutes and was resuscitated by medical personnel summoned to the chamber.
According to a Senate source, Lawal’s collapse was due to exhaustion.
Following the incident, the Senate entered a closed-door session while efforts were made to revive him inside the chamber. Lawal was later taken out of the Senate chamber in an ambulance. The screening resumed with the third nominee, Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State, appearing before the Senate.
Lawal is one of the three new ministerial nominees being screened by the Senate, along with Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in government, highlighting his extensive experience and commitment to contributing to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
