RT reports that two perpetrators were involved in the incident, one of whom blew himself up, while the other was neutralized by the security forces, the Interior Ministry added.

“Two terrorists arrived in a light military vehicle at around 9:30 am (0630 GMT), in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Ministry of the Interior, and carried out a bomb attack,” the ministry said.

Two police officers were slightly injured in the terrorist attack in front of the General Directorate of Security in Ankara, says Turkish Interior Minister Yerlikaya.

Images from Ankara show armoured vehicles being deployed in the streets, along with numerous armed police officers and soldiers. One of the photos features what looks like a used man-portable rocket launcher thrown on the ground.

The attack took place on the day when Türkiye’s parliament was scheduled to reconvene following its summer recess.
