President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said he publicly displayed his ballot because he already stated that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get his vote.
Bellnewsonline.com reports that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, is the presidential flag-bearer of Buhari’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The incumbent president had elicited reactions on social media after displaying his ballot in Daura, Katsina State on Saturday morning. According to some social media users, the president’s action violates the electoral act.
But reacting while speaking to the press after casting his vote, Buhari said: “Well, the candidate I voted for I have already mentioned him in many states in Nasarawa, Katsina and Sokoto.
“All over the places I mentioned my favourite candidate, Asiwaju Tinubu, and I believe my constituency will elect him 100 per cent.”
