Immediate past Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, says Southeast votes for President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 general elections will shock Nigerians.

The former Minister also stated that the much-discussed “Obi factor” will not affect the outcome.

Shittu said this on Wednesday, while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television.

“And today, if you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South East for APC, you’ll be shocked,” he said.

The Oyo-born politician also stated that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was gaining ground in the region, pointing to the influence of a key figure of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, whom he credited with swaying sentiment in favour of Tinubu.

“Even the people from the South East, with the efforts of people like Dave Umahi and so many others, a lot of people are getting convinced to come the Tinubu route,” Shittu added.

Shittu dismissed the notion that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, would remain a factor in the region.

“It doesn’t matter. What is important is for Tinubu to win. Even if to win by 10 votes, I can assure you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win,” he stated.
