Alex Iwobi has said the Super Eagles must find a way of stopping Gabon star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, Bellnews reports.

Aubameyang, 36, has starred for the Panthers in the qualifying series.

The Olympic Marseille striker has scored seven goals in nine appearances for the West Africans.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea star will lead the line for Thierry Mouyouma’s side against the Super Eagles in the first semi-final of the play-offs on Thursday.

Iwobi said it is important for them to “lock him up.”

“He’s getting on, but you wouldn’t think that. He’s a youthful guy,” Iwobi told BBC Sport.

“I don’t know how we’re going to lock him up.”
