One of the frontline presidential aspirants on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has finally broken the silence on the outcome of the presidential primary election of the party held on Saturday in Abuja.
Daily Independent had reported that Atiku polled 371 votes to emerge as the PDP candidate defeating the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Fayose and many other aspirants to clinches the party ticket.
Results of the presidential primary election revealed that Atiku scored 371 votes; Nyesom Wike- 237 votes; Bukola Saraki – 70 votes; Udom Emmanuel – 38 votes; Balla Mohammed – 20 votes; Pius Anyim – 14 votes; Sam Ohabunwa – 1 vote; and Olivia Tariela scored 1, Fayose 0, with 12 void votes.
Fayose who spoke days after the party national convention which he couldn’t get a single vote during the electioneering process join a host of others to congratulate the standard flag bearer of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
The former Ekiti State Governor also extend a hand of commendation to Governor Wike who is the closest challenger with 237 votes for a job well done.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, he wrote, “To this end, I congratulate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar our flag-bearer and wish him and our party success in the general election
“I congratulate former VP Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the PDP presidential candidate. I also commend Governor Nyesom Wike for remaining consistent in action and character.”
